Amazon Echo is not just a speaker, it’s a real intelligent vocal assistant that can talk to you, give you information and even anticipate your needs. The speaker connects to Alexa (voice service) to play music, check the weather, provide news, answer questions and much more – All you have to do is say “Alexa” and the speaker wakes up to respond to your requests.
The Echo range has been such a huge success that Amazon has launched many versions, including the Echo, Echo Dot and Echo Plus. Each one has it’s own unique features and capabilities meaning there’s one for everyone.
We will be comparing the 3 different Echo devices to help you decide which one is right for you.
Amazon Echo (2nd generation)
The 2nd generation Amazon Echo is a replacement of the original Echo that was launched in 2015. The new model is much smaller and comes in a variety of different colours giving it a more modern look. Like the original, it’s unique selling point is the built in voice service Alexa, this time coming at a much cheaper price of £89.99 and currently it’s been reduced £69.99 for Black Friday.
While it does offer all the complete Echo experience, the lower price tag means there is a slight compromise when it comes to sound quality; if music is not your priority this model provides all the features you would need.

Amazon Echo Plus
Bigger, Stronger, better? The Echo Plus is significantly taller then the standard Echo and it does feel more premium – Additionally the sound quality is much better than the one seen on both the original and the Echo 2.
The biggest improvement of the Echo Plus is the introduction of Zigbee, a smart home hub which allows you to control many household devices using voice commands through the speaker. You can turn off the lamp before going to bed or switch the kettle on in the morning without lifting a finger. How cool right?
