Facebook launches Messenger Lite in 150 countries
Facebook has now released an alternative to it’s messenger app, the Messenger Lite. It consumes less data, less battery and less RAM. However, some functionality has been taken out.
The Messenger Lite application was reserved for a handful of emerging countries, it is now universal. Facebook has just made it accessible on 150 new markets, including the UK. This lighter version has the advantage of consuming less data, but also less energy.
If you are interested, please note that some features have been removed. The latest updates incorporating stories, stickers and other filters are not available. GIFs are also not accessible. The objective of this version is to go to the basics … and it is successful in doing that. Latency is minimized, every action runs without any delay. Another significant advantage is that RAM consumption is more than four times less than in the classic version. Your smartphone should thank you!
This app will be perfect for users who want to just communicate in text without any of the extra functionality. Messenger Lite is already available on the Google Play Store.
